The name Davanna was taken from the owner's, Richard Rooney, daughter. As some of their advertisements state “precious gifts do indeed come in small packages.”

Davanna's opened for business on September 2nd, 2008 with their first store in St. John's which is located on the upper level of the Avalon Mall.
